Exploring the Path Less Traveled: My ongoing transition from Sales to the World of Design
Hi all!
I am Kaiga, and this is “Switching gears”, a place for me to document and share my journey to transition into the “design industry” specifically as a UX designer.
Why the Switch?
Picture this: years of relentless sales, never-ending targets, and monotonous days—weeks—and months had me at my saturation point. I felt like a cog in a machine, Just moving along the flow of what life throws at me, watching as everything I do to feel more productive just falls flat apart.
One day, I hit the pause button on my career. I left my job without any plan in mind, took a break without having a lot of funds in my savings, and let myself breathe. During that time, away from the daily grind, I was able to slow down and I discovered something profound: I wanted more than just numbers and quotas. I liked creativity, purpose, and a chance to build something meaningful and most importantly solve problems.
It was during those quiet moments, away from the chaos, that I found my true calling: UX design. The ability to shape ideas into beautiful, purposeful creations which essentially solves a lot of user problems.
Challenges?
Let’s not sugarcoat it. It’s not a walk in the park more like walking in an unfamiliar foreign land where I encounter:
Skill Gap
Industry Jargons
Portfolio building (I didn’t even know what that means)
Networking (as an introvert? Yeah well)
And a lot more but these aren’t roadblocks but stepping stones that I am willing to jump on to learn and improve myself.
The Road Ahead
I wanna document my learnings and share whatever I can with someone who might be in a similar situation or just wanna embark on this journey together. So expect design tips, stories, and surprises in this newsletter. but yeah It's not just me talking; I want to hear from you too.

Let's explore this new path together.
Warmly, Kaiga
